Our year end concert is here and we will be playing under the skating rink tent between the Forks main building and Johnson Terminal. There will be two afternoons of music with bands from around the city and Pinawa from 1pm until 5pm both Saturday and Sunday so please come out to watch if you are able and enjoy the music. The schedule is below, after the concert we will be gathering at
609 Haney St at 5pm for a windup (byob).
Dress: Westwood red t-shirts and black pants
Be prepared for windy weather - bring wind clips, acetate sheets, or even clothes pins.
And don't forget your stands - the sturdier the better (and your music)!
Parking is in the multi-story Parkade. Heavy/awkward equipment can be dropped off at the site before you park your vehicles.

We hope everyone has had a wonderful holiday break! Rehearsals resume this Thursday January 6th at the usual time and place, 7:15PM in the Linoln School band room.
Reminder! Our rehearsal on Dec 2 has been changed to Sturgeon Heights school at 3665 Ness Ave, a few blocks west of Moray St. THe band room is in the northwest corner of the school so please go to the west side parking lot, and enter either at the band room entrance at the northwest corner, or at the main west entrance. Start time is the usual 7:15PM.
November 11th at ANAF 283 which is located at 3584 Portage Ave, and we will playing close to 2:15 PM... probably. Please arrive at 1:45 if you can, because of the length of the day and other performers that will be playing we are never sure when precisely we will be on. Dress is red Westwood shirts, black pants, and a poppy if you have one and don't forget your music, your stand, and your instrument!

Our next concert will be at Rockwood Legion on Thursday, November 4th at 7:30 PM. Please arrive half an hour early for setup. The address is 341 Wilton Street near Grant Park (Google Map)
Our first concert of the year is at Stony Mountain United Church. It is a joint concert with the Stonewall Collegiate Jazz Band and we will be on first at 7:30PM, so please arrive at 7:00PM. The church is on Main Street in Stony Mountain, for a quick map go here (Google Map). If you prefer Doug's entertaining commentary, here is an excerpt from the newsletter directions:
O.K., O.K. so some of you have a well-trodden, albeit chauffered, path to Stony Mountain. For the rest... take Highway 7 north from the perimeter. When you are level with the pen, turn right for 'Stony Mountain'. Cross the railway track and take the first left, Old #7. At 500m, turn right down the side of the pen property. This will be School Road. At 500m, turn left on Main Street (not sign-posted). This is a test of initiative. It's when you have the Anglican Church on your right, turn left. That church looks right down Main Street. The United is just along a bit on your right. Can't miss it. Stony Mountain is well churched. The good folks there have a choice of United, Anglican or Catholic. Wot, no mosque? Myrna?
Other important details, bring your music, stands, black & reds, and a stand light if you have it. After the concert we are invited downstairs for refreshments and a meet & greet, so please come and get to know your band mates. Lastly, if you are bringing friends and family the gate is $10 (band members excluded).
