The Band welcomes adults, beginners through to accomplished musicians, who play woodwind, brass, or percussion instruments.

This is a friendly environment, new members are welcome to sit-in for a couple of nights with no commitment necessary. You will soon feel at home!

Membership

The Band averages 40+ members from all parts of Winnipeg and from all walks of life: ages range from 18 to 80+.

Band Season is from September to June.
Annual fee $80.00.
Students $40.00.
Westwood Community Band Polo Shirt $15.00.

Musical Director

Ginny Helmer has been a music teacher in the Pembina Trails School Division for 31 years, working with students from grades 5-9, and has been a guest conductor for several community groups including the Winnipeg Wind Ensemble. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Music Performance from the University of Western Ontario, a teaching certificate from the University of Manitoba, and has successfully completed the Canadian Wind Conductors' Developmnent Program and Level III of the Orff Certificiation Program. She recently completed a Masters' Degree in Education. As of 2015, Ginny has been the Music Consultant of the Pembina Trails School Division and the band teacher at Linden Meadows School.
